Fifty South African companies will participate in the 7th Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) to
the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) next week, the trade and industry department (dti)
said on Saturday.

The ITI would be held from September 14 to 19 in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, the dti said in a statement.

Brimis Engineering, which is based in Middleburg, Mpumalanga, is one of the participating companies. Brimis Engineering managing director Andile Nqandela said in the statement he was excited to be participating in the ITI, as it was his first participation in a mission led by the dti.

“We want to explore the export market in the DRC, as we are aware that it holds a lot of opportunities because of many projects currently underway that side, especially in the energy sector,” he said. His company, which currently employed seven people, had acquired extensive experience working with the likes of Eskom in South Africa. He believed they would be able to tap into opportunities in the energy capital investments sector in the DRC.

Nqandela said the company’s short-term vision was to export their products to the DRC, but in the long-term they would wanted to set up business in that country. Brimis Engineering are suppliers of spare parts. They also service and refurbish compressors, pumps, valves, and other mechanical products. The company was established in April 2013.[/fusion_text]

2016 Business of the Year Winners

Silverstar Casino, 5th November 2016. ROCCI hosted their FNB/ROCCI Annual Business of the Year awards 2016. Nominated businessmen and women arrived on the red carpet to attend the prestigious, “ROCCI/FNB on Broadway”, Business of the Year awards, at Silverstar Casino.

The Attendees arrived, looking beautifully dressed in their ballroom gowns and the men handsome in their tuxedos, greeted on the red carpet with sparkling champagne, in the foyer. The electric atmosphere and building excitement could be felt by everyone, as they waited in anticipation for the doors to open.

Nominees stood in glitzy awe as they went in greeted by the spectacular sight of tables that’s were alight with blinged up Broadway hats, dancing girls stockinged legs, shimmering masks, diamond glowing vases, surrounded with feathers ,boas and fairy lights, awash in black white and teal, and lots of bling.

Broadway was indeed in the hall everywhere, and five star all the way. The MC was none other than Martin Jonas, who had the guests entranced and laughing, with his quick sharp wit and fantastic humour. Before the Nominees were awarded with their certificates, Frog Productions, entertained the guests with their Broadway show in between the formalities.

The food served was delicate and beautifully decorated, and the guests were treated with starters of roasted carrot, potato and coriander fritters, with pan-fried halloumi strips and a salad of micro herbs dressed in a hummus dressing. Followed by a main meal of Slow roasted thyme-infused lamb shoulder, sous vide chicken ballontine stuffed with brie and sundried potato, buttered French beans, saffron pommes fondant and sage jus, and the finally of an delicious dessert of New york red velvet cheese cake with a blueberry compote and lavender tuile. The guests raved at the delicious quality of the food and service. Each table was allocated with a bucket service and their own team of servers.

Mpumalanga-based wholly black-owned mechanical engineering company Brimis Engineering will procure a pressure relief valve test bench by the end of this month to test more than 90% of all installed safety valves currently in use in South Africa.

Global valve test and repair equipment supplier Ventil is the original-equipment manufacturer for the test bench.
